One major problem that Church Security Officers authorized for a sidearm face is how to carry the sidearm that is effectively concealed but fast into action while being comfortable for long periods of time. Over the years I have accumulated a large box of holsters that looked great but in the end did not meet the challenge.

For the past six months I have been using the Archangel, an In the Waist Band (IWB) holster from Dale Fricke. I am very impressed with it for a number of reasons. It is very well made, comfortable, secure and extremely fast. Dale Fricke is a pastor and a former police officer who is very familiar with the requirements of concealed carry and has created a number of holsters and magazine pouches that will work extremely well for those of us who carry a sidearm in the course of our duties. The Archangel is designed as an appendix holster but I have found that it can be worn in the 3:00 O’clock as well. The Archangel uses snap loops to attach the holster to your belt making is secure but also easy to remove when needed. Retention is controlled by dual tension screws that you may adjust to the tension required for your sidearm. While training I have never lost the weapon even while rolling on the ground in hand to hand training.

For many years I have been using leather holsters and I am still very much a fan of great leather. That being said, better quality leather holsters do require a break in period to marry the sidearm to the leather for a smooth, fast presentation. This can take from 3 days to 2 weeks depending on the design. During this time I will not carry them for personal defense until the break in is complete. When using a quality Kydex holster such as one of Frickes, they are good to go from the moment your receive them. Dale uses a heavier material that will provide a long service life. These holsters are available through Brownells Law Enforcement who is now a site supporter. If you are looking for a quality concealment holster, please consider this product. I highly recommend it.
