President George W. Bush, who is in Colorado to raise funds for GOP candidates Thursday, met the church volunteer guard who intervened to stop an assault by a man who had already killed four people.

He met with Jeanne Assam and told her how proud of her he was for confronting Matthew Murray, the 24-year-old man who had killed two people at an Arvada church mission before driving to Colorado Springs to attack churchgoers at the New Life Church.Murray killed himself when confronted by Assam, a former Minneapolis policewoman. She shot him several times but the coroner determined he died of self-inflicted wounds.
