Kissemmee, Florida – What is being characterized as a “gun fight” between a pastor and recently fired church maintenance worker broke out December 30 at Living Water Fellowship Church in Kissimmee, Florida.
According to news reports, Pastor Terry Howell, 61 advised Benjamin Parangan, 47 years old he would no longer be employed at the church.
Parangan, who reportedly worked at Living Water Church for 8 years drew a gun and began shooting at Howell. Realizing he wasn’t hurt, Howell used his own gun to return fire in self defense.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, suspect Parangan is in stable condition and has been charged with aggravated assault with intent to kill and additional charges are pending.
Pastor Howell in a statement said, “We are in full support of the ongoing Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the traumatic incident that occurred at our church this morning. We will continue to cooperate with the investigators in every way that we can.”
The Orlando Sentinel reported there were adult witnesses to the incident, as well as 16 children attending school in the building during the shooting. No one else was harmed.
