A Georgia man wanted in connection for a multiple homicide was found sleeping under an awning at a Baptist church in Alcorn, Mississippi. According to news reports he had killed members of his family and fled the state. His vehicle was located in Tennessee.
Not knowing the man was wanted by Georgia authorities, they offered to help the suspect, identified as Thomas Jessie Lee, buy a bus ticket and drove him to the bus depot in Tupelo, Mississippi.
The following day, the pastor saw the news story of the multiple homicide and saw the man his church had helped the previous day was wanted for multiple murders.
He immediately contacted the local police department, who then notified Troup county S.O. setting authorities in motion to locate Lee at the Tupelo bus depot. He was located and captured. He has waived extradition and is expected to be taken back to Georgia to face charges.
We are thankful the pastor and members were not harmed.
