On June 22, 1980 at 11:20 Alvin Lee King entered the Daingerfield, TX First Baptist Church armed with an AR-15, an M-1, a .38, and a .22 and 350 rounds of ammunition and attacked the congregation yelling, “This is war!”

The church was filled with 350 people that morning, and he shot 15 people killing 5 of them.

Two men, Kenneth Truitt and James McDaniel counter-attacked King and pushed him out the door, but were fatally shot and killed.

A movie has been made about the tragic incident called Faith Under Fire.

It is the story of the first mass shooting at a church in the United States.
